How To

WaterAid

Here at Ecover, we consider water our most valuable resource, so we choose to respect it accordingly. It’s the least we can do, considering we’re lucky enough to have access to a developed water system that supplies clean, disease-free water quite literally ‘on tap’. Millions, however, are not so lucky.

Thankfully, there’s our good friend WaterAid. WaterAid began its work as a charity back in 1981. Since then, it has been committed to “transforming lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities”. Since 1981, WaterAid has reached almost 16 million with safe water and, since 2004, over 11 million with sanitation. Yet WaterAid’s work has an impact in more ways than one. With a safe, local water supply, families are healthier and happier. Time spent trekking hours previously to collect water can be spent earning a livelihood. Food and vegetables can be grown, and farms and livestock can survive. Thanks to WaterAid, entire communities are thriving. WaterAid believes in giving people the tools they need to manage by themselves. By educating communities about sanitation and hygiene, the solutions WaterAid puts in place can be sustained for future generations.

Here in the UK, Ecover is committed to protecting our water supplies – which is why our products contain no harmful nasties. They biodegrade quickly and easily with minimum impact on aquatic life, use less water to neutralize and need less water to work. But however much we do here at home, we’re well aware that water is a global resource; that’s why we’ve been so eager to support WaterAid.
